Almas Zafar

Since Naxos is not as popular as Mykonos and Santorini, this island is much more affordable and less crowded.


Naxos Rock Villas

This small property offers three villas (but they will be adding on more rooms in the near future). The Apollo villa had two bedrooms, three bathrooms, a kitchen and living area, and the most amazing terrace with an infinity pool. For what you get, the price is relatively low, especially compared to hotel rates in Santorini and Mykonos.
In the mornings, have breakfast on the terrace, with views of Mount Zas, Naxos City, and the rolling hills of Naxos. 


Naxos Magic Village

The center of Naxos is mountainous and dotted with small, picturesque villages. It is a beautiful area and it looks remotely different from the landscapes we saw on Mykonos and Santorini.
This is a nice, easy walk that takes you through several villages and to one historical site on Naxos. Start and end in the town of Melanes, walk on ancient marble paths, visit the Kouroi of Flerio, and enjoy the views along the way. This wonderful walk only takes a few hours of your time and it is a great way to explore this part of Naxos.

ROMANTIC NAXOS

Naxos feels quiet, peaceful, and uncrowded. With its green rolling hills and mountains, Naxos is much different from the other islands in the Cyclades. The beaches are beautiful, the small villages are a joy to explore, there are numerous opportunities for hiking, and you can lounge at the beach or go windsurfing.
Since Naxos is not as popular as Mykonos and Santorini, this island is much more affordable and less crowded.


THE COLOSSEUM, THE BORGHESE, THE ROMAN FORUM, PALATINE HILL, CRYPT OF THE CAPUCHIN FRIARS, 

Rome is the touristic city. There are many places to visit here. So, let's enjoy.


The Colosseum

The Colosseum is one of New 7 Wonders of the World and the largest amphitheater that was ever built. It was constructed almost 2000 years ago, completed in 80 AD. In its heyday, between 50,000 and 80,000 spectators would watch gladiator contests, executions, animal hunts, and the reenactments of famous battles.
 
This is one of Rome's most popular sites to visit, so expect large crowds and long lines. For the best experience, book your tickets in advance. I recommend doing this as soon as you know your travel dates because tickets can sell out.
It takes about one hour to tour the Colosseum. To get the most out of your visit, you can take a tour to areas not included on the regular ticket. Visit the Arena, the Underground (where the animals were kept), and the third tier of the Colosseum. 
 


Roman Forum

The Roman Forum is the historical center of Rome. This is ancient Rome, a complex of government buildings, temples, and marketplaces from 2000 years ago.


Palatine Hill

The Palatine Hill, which relative to the seven hills of Rome is the centremost, is one of the most ancient parts of the city and has been called "the first nucleus of the Roman Empire." The site is now mainly a large open-air museum while the Palatine Museum houses many finds from the excavations here and from other ancient Italian sites.


La Prezzemolina

Just a short walk from the Roman Forum is La Prezzemolina. This highly rated restaurant serves Italian street food and pizza at budget-friendly prices.


Borghese Gallery and Museum

The Borghese contains one of the best collections of art in the world. See works of art by Raphael, Caravaggio, Titian, and Bernini. Even the building is an attraction.
After your visit to the Borghese, it's a nice stroll through the gardens that surround the art museum.


Capuchin Crypt

This is optional but I am including it because it is located within walking distance of the Borghese Art Gallery.
In several small chapels underneath the church of Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappucchini are the skeletal remains of almost 4,000 Capuchin friars. The bones are arranged in artistic patterns. It's morbidly fascinating and definitely an off-the-beaten-path location. 


Trastevere

End the day with dinner in the Trastevere neighborhood. 


A taste of Italy (ROME)

Rome is the capital city of Italy. It is also the capital of the Lazio region, the centre of the Metropolitan City of Rome, and a special comune named Comune di Roma Capitale. Rome is the country's most populated comune and the third most populous city in the European Union by population within city limits. 
 


WESTMINSTER ABBEY, BUCKINGHAM PALACE, BIG BEN, WHITEHALL, COVENT GARDEN

Enjoy the journey as you glide by the Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, the Parliment and many more sites.


Westminster Abbey

Westminster Abbey is the site of the coronation of the monarchs of England, royal weddings, and the funeral of Princess Diana. Hundreds of people are buried in tombs and in the floor of the Abbey, including Charles Darwin and Sir Isaac Newton. Included with your entry fee is an audio guide that explains the history of this amazing place.


Buckingham Palace

From Westminster Abbey, walk through St. James Park to The Mall to Buckingham Palace. Most visits here are quick, with just a view of the Palace through the fence, but if you get your timing right, you can watch the Changing of the Guard.
The Changing of the Guard occurs every other day at 11 am
(usually Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday). In the summer, the Changing of
the Guard may occur daily. This schedule can change and the ceremony will not
occur in inclement weather. Click here for the up-to-date schedule.

Whitehall

Next we will be walking over to Whitehall. Restaurants on Whitehall either mediocre or expensive (your best beton Whitehall is The Red Lion). There are numerous restaurants to try just south of Buckingham Palace, including Bon Gusto (Italian), Quilon (Indian and Asian), or Buckingham Arms (bar/pub located on at 62 Petty France)


Churchill War Rooms

After lunch, walk to the Churchill War Rooms. This museum has two parts to it. At the Churchill Museum you learn about the life and legacy of Winston Churchill. Then you enter the Cabinet War Rooms. This is the underground bunker where Churchill and his staff ran their operations during World War II.
You do not need to be a history buff to appreciate this
visit. We all found this fascinating, even Tyler and Kara.

Parliament Square

From the Churchill War Rooms, continue the walk towards Big Ben. Before long, you will be able to see some of London's most iconic sites: Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, and Parliament.


Big Ben

Of course, while you are here, it's hard to miss Big Ben, one of London's most famous symbols.


10 Downing Street

From Parliament, walk up Whitehall. You will first come to #10 Downing Street, the official home of the British Prime Minister. The entrance is protected behind a fence with armed guards, but you will be able see the residence from a distance.


Horse Guards Parade

Walk one more block north on Whitehall to Horse Guards Parade. This is a large, gravel area used for parades and a daily changing of the guard (at 11 am).


Trafalgar Square

Continue the walk north to Trafalgar Square. This is one of London's most popular public squares. It has been the site for anti-war demonstrations, New Year's Eve celebrations, and victory parades.


Covent Garden

Covent Garden is a district in the West End that is now a popular shopping and dining area. Spend the rest of the afternoon and evening exploring this neighborhood.
There are numerous restaurants in this area, including a
cluster of restaurants and shops in Apple Market.


Neal's Yard

Neal's Yard is a colorful alley in Covent Garden. It's worth the quick visit just to take a photo. Just around the corner is Neal's Yard Dairy, one of the best spots in the city to sample artisanal cheese.


the amazing London

London is a huge city and the list of sites to see is long. Taking a bus tour is a great way to have an overview of this amazing city. Plus it is the perfect, low-key activity for the jet-lagged travelers.


MORE BERLIN WALL, HOHENSCHOENHAUSEN PRISON, PRENZLAUER BERG

You can run the best of Berlin in one day. there are many wonderful places to visit.


Berlin Wall Memorial

To see what the Berlin Wall really looked like, visit the BERLIN WALL MEMORIAL (Gendensktatte Berliner Mauer). This is the place where a portion of the wall and the “death strip” are preserved for visitors to see. A visit here lasts about an hour and it is free.


Berlin Friedrichstraße station

Ride the S-Bahn (S25 from Nordbahnhof to Friedrichstrasse, direction Teltow Stadt, 2 minutes travel time) to Friedrichstrasse Station.


Tränenpalast

Spend the next hour or so at Tranenpalast, also called the Palace of Tears. Tranenpalast is small, wellorganized museum and it is a quick, free visit. This was the main border crossing between East and West Germany from 1962 to 1989. The site gets its name, Palace of Tears, for the tearful goodbyes as family and friends said farewell and crossed back into West Germany.


Alexanderplatz

Hop back on the metro and go for another short ride to Alexanderplatz (S75 from Friedrichstrasse to Alexanderplatz, direction Westkreuz, 3 minutes travel time). Alexanderplatz is another large square in Berlin and big transportation hub.


Berliner Fernsehturm

While you are here, take in the view from the top of the Berlin TV Tower (Fernsehturm). Skip the line with this fast track ticket. There is a restaurant at the top so you have the option to have lunch here. There are also numerous restaurants in and around Alexanderplatz for lunch


Gedenkstätte Berlin-Hohenschönhausen

In the afternoon, take a tour of Gedenkstatte Berlin-Hohenschoenhausen. Now a memorial and museum, this site was the main political prison of the East German Ministry of State Security, the Stasi. Visitors watch a short movie and then take a 90-minute tour of the facility. 


Prenzlauer Berg

Spend the evening in Prenzlauer Berg, a historic neighborhood that is now becoming a trendy area filled with shops and restaurants.


1 day @ Berlin

If you are planning a trip to Berlin, you should know that there is a lot more to see than Berlin Wall and the Brandenburg Gate. Berlin is the largest city in Germany. It is a diverse city filled with world-class museums, beautiful squares to wander through and a huge collection of historical sites.


EIFFEL TOWER, CHAMPS DE MARS, RUE CLER, THE LOUVRE, ANGELINA’S, PLACE DE LA CONCORDE, CHAMPS-ELYSEES, ARC DE TRIOMPHE

Bonjour! Today you get to visit some of Paris’ biggest and most iconic sites. Get ready to take lots of photos and make some wonderful memories.


EIFFEL TOWER

Yes, the Eiffel Tower is super touristy but a visit to Paris would not be complete without a view from the Tower, especially if it is your first time in Paris.
The line to visit the Eiffel Tower can be epic (I am talking 2 to 3 hours wait on the busiest days). You can avoid this nightmare by arriving at or before opening time or booking your tickets in advance. 
There are two ways up the Eiffel Tower. You can take an elevator or you can walk up the stairs. The queues for the elevators are very long and he queue for the stairs is much shorter.


CHAMPS DE MARS

For the ultimate picnic experience, go shopping on a charming French street and enjoy your meal in Champs de Mars, the large park in front of Eiffel Tower.


RUE CLER

From the Eiffel Tower, it is another very pretty walk to Rue Cler. On this short shopping street, go shopping in the pastry shops, bread shops, cheese shops, and shops selling fruit and chocolate. Take your food and find a nice spot on Champs de Mars and enjoy the view.


THE LOUVRE

The Louvre is the world’s largest art museum. This building was once the home to French Kings including Louis XIV. During the French Revolution in the 18th century, the Louvre was converted to museum.
The main sites to visit in the Louvre are the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, and the Winged Victory.


ANGELINA’S

Hopefully you worked up a bit of an appetite because now it is time for a little indulgence. From the Louvre, walk through the Tuileries Garden and cross Rue de Rivoli to Angelina. Angelina serves decadent hot chocolate and delicious French pastries. Enjoy! 


PLACE DE LA CONCORDE

From Angelina, stroll through Tuileries Garden or along the Rue de Rivoli to Place de la Concorde. This famous square is full of French history. This was the spot during the French Revolution where King Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette and Robespeirre were executed by guillotine.


CHAMPS-ELYSEES

The Champs-Elysees is one of the most recognizable streets in the world. It is famous as being the finish of the Tour de France and the location of the Bastille Day military parade. Restaurants, shops, theaters line the Champs-Elysees. It is a touristy feel but it is still worth the stroll.


ARC DE TRIOMPHE

It is time to take in the view from the mighty Arc de Triomphe. There is something about looking down the Champs-Elysees to the Louvre, out to La Defense, and of course, having the wonderful view of the Eiffel Tower.

You have the chance to take in the view from Eiffel Tower, say hi to Mona Lisa in the Louvre, eat street food crepes, climb the Arc de Triomphe, explore several Parisian neighborhoods and visit the amazing Palace of Versailles.
